Company History

The Green Girl Recycling was started in 1998 by Bridget Johnson, when she lived on Sugarloaf Road and was alerted to the fact that mountain communities did not enjoy the same recycling services the City of Boulder residences had. With much effort, Bridget was able to educate mountain families on Sugarloaf Road and sign people up for once, twice and weekly recycling services. Green Girl Recycling has continuously grown to expand not only Sugarloaf Mountain residents, but also to mountain communities all throughout greater Boulder County. Our recycling region spans from Coal Creek Canyon down south to just north of Lyons and from the Peak-to-Peak Highway west down every mountain road into each main town following every canyon. Green Girl Recycling focuses on providing an extremely convenient one-stop recycling service where households enjoy the private service of having someone go right into their garage or shed to remove their recyclables on a pre-determined pickup schedule.

In April of 2004, Bridget and Matthew Johnson purchased Green Mountain Recycling Services.  At that time, Green Mountain Recycling had been in business for over fourteen years and focused primarily on businesses in and around the Boulder County area.  Green Mountain recycling has been and is able to offer not only recycling services to all its customers on a very personalized level, (we offer inside as well as outside recycling receptacles for restaurants, businesses, offices and commercial buildings). We specialize in setting up personalized front-door recycling programs that work for each customer as well as offer one-stop secure shredding services, electronics recycling and hard-to-recycle items service.

In December of 2008, Bridget and Matt acquired over 300-office pickup locations from Waste Not Recycling owned by Anita Comer based in Kelm, Colorado. Waste Not Recycling was looking to downscale their operations after the biggest recycling dip in commodity prices since the early 70’s directly affecting revenues and their business model. Green Girl & Green Mountain Recycling Services were extremely enthusiastic to assume these additional accounts keeping recycling in the Loveland, Berthoud, Ft. Collins and Greeley areas growing. Green Girl Recycling provides the same front-door style, complete recycling program that Waste Not Recycling was running, so the merger was more than amicable to everyone. G.G. & G.M. Recycling now spans all of the greater Boulder County areas (including all residential mountain communities) as well as all of Larimer and Weld Counties! We pride ourselves on being a one-stop complete recycling service provider to all of our happy customers.

Green Girl Recycling named to Mercury 100In May of 2010, Green Girl Recycling was named to the Mercury 100, the Boulder County Business Report's ranking of the 100 Fastest-Growing Private Comapnies in the Boulder Valley. The Business Report Annually ranks companies based on two-year revenue growth, and this year's list is based on growth from 2007 to 2009.
