RCAB Warehouse Tour + Our Big C3-BO Truck Reveal!

ree

Last Friday, October 24th, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of the Boulder County Recycling Authority Board (RCAB

) to our Green ♻️ Girl 💪 Recycling warehouse at 1801 Boston Avenue for a special behind-the-scenes tour — and an extra-exciting moment for our crew: the official debut of our brand-new mountain recycling truck — “C3-BO.”

Celebrating a Year in Our New Space

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since we moved into our new warehouse, but stepping inside still feels like a breath of fresh air every single day. The tour was a wonderful chance to show the RCAB board all the upgrades we’ve made to improve efficiency, from our reorganized electronics and shredding areas to the expanded floor space that helps us sort and stage materials faster and cleaner than ever before.

Meet C3-BO — Our Newest Mountain Recycler

The highlight of the day? Rolling out our new 11’ stake-bed RAM 4x4 mountain truck — proudly named C3-BO.The name is a fun mash-up of two huge supporters who helped make it possible:

  • C3 comes from the State of Colorado’s C3 Grant Program, which funded the truck chassis.

  • BO stands for Boulder County, who generously funded the custom 11’ stake-bed.

This truck is a game-changer for us — designed to tackle tougher routes and reach even more families and businesses in rural and mountain communities that often get left behind when it comes to recycling access. It’s built for steep grades, tight turns, and heavy loads… exactly what we need to keep recycling rolling strong in the high country.

Photo Fun and Full Hearts

The RCAB board didn’t just show up — they showed off! They graciously helped us capture some professional photos during the tour, even jumping in for the action. At one point, several members gleefully tossed aluminum cans high into the air while I stood smiling (and probably laughing!) in the back of the truck bed. The result? A truly joyful photo that perfectly sums up what Green Girl Recycling is all about — teamwork, community, and a whole lot of fun doing good for the planet.

Hand-Painted Pride

Every Green Girl truck gets its special touch from Kevin Benjamin, owner of Brush On Signs in Boulder, Colorado, and our new C3-BO is no exception. Kevin hand-painted this beauty, adding creative flair and heartfelt detail — from the yellow dot tucked inside the “C” for Colorado to the perfectly placed “Boulder County” hand-lettered inside the “O.”We feel so lucky to have such talented, artistic, and local friends who help us bring our trucks (and our mission) to life!

A Full-Circle Moment

We couldn’t help but get a little nostalgic as we shared this milestone with the board.Back in 2004, Boulder County helped fund our very first mountain recycling truck, a 9’ stake-bed affectionately named Naomi — which means mountain goddess. And guess what? Naomi is still working hard today! That original truck has hauled thousands of tons of recyclable material out of mountain communities and helped countless families learn how to divert more, waste less, and keep Colorado’s wild spaces clean and green.

So to be here, twenty years later, showing off the next-generation truck they helped fund again? That’s what we call a full-circle recycling moment.

Big Thanks and Bright Futures

We want to give a huge THANK YOU to the RCAB members (about eight of them joined us!) for coming out, touring our warehouse, asking great questions, and celebrating this next chapter with us.And of course — endless gratitude to Boulder County and the State of Colorado C3 Grant Program for believing in small, community-focused recyclers like us who are out there every day making sure no household or business gets left behind.

We can’t wait to see C3-BO in action this winter, powering up mountain roads and hauling down even more recycling for a cleaner, greener Colorado. 💚
