There’s something about books…

You don’t just throw them away.

And lucky for us here in Colorado… we don’t.

At Green Girl Recycling, we’re currently collecting from four different libraries, diverting over 600 pounds of books every single week.

That’s a LOT of stories.

But here’s the part I really love…

Those books don’t just stop at our warehouse.

They go on a journey.

After we collect and consolidate them, they head down to our partner, Dream Books Co.in Denver… and this is where things get really cool.

Because Dream Books isn’t just recycling books…

They are bringing them back to life.

Each year, they help process over 7 MILLION books and divert more than 8.5 million pounds of material from landfills.

Let that sink in for a second…

Millions. Of. Books.

And here’s the best part:

👉 Over 95% of the books they receive are kept OUT of the landfill

👉 Most are resold, reused, or redistributed

👉 Only a small portion actually gets recycled into paper

Which means…

That book you dropped off?

That library clean-out?

That box sitting in your garage?

There’s a really good chance it ends up back in someone’s hands… being read again.

And THAT is the kind of recycling we love.

Because yes… we recycle paper.

But even better?

We help circulate stories.

This is what makes Colorado so special.

We don’t just collect material… we have real systems and partners that ensure it actually gets reused, recycled, and diverted the right way.

From local libraries → to Green Girl → to Dream Books → back into the community…

It’s a full-circle moment. Every single time.

So when you watch this video of books coming into our warehouse…

Just know…

That’s not the end of their story.

It’s just the beginning 📚💚♻️ Thank you for thinking GREEN & Recycling your books!!
