Thereās something about booksā¦
You donāt just throw them away.
And lucky for us here in Colorado⦠we donāt.
At Green Girl Recycling, weāre currently collecting from four different libraries, diverting over 600 pounds of books every single week.
Thatās a LOT of stories.
But hereās the part I really loveā¦
Those books donāt just stop at our warehouse.
They go on a journey.
After we collect and consolidate them, they head down to our partner, Dream Books Co.in Denver⦠and this is where things get really cool.
Because Dream Books isnāt just recycling booksā¦
They are bringing them back to life.
Each year, they help process over 7 MILLION books and divert more than 8.5 million pounds of material from landfills.Ā
Let that sink in for a secondā¦
Millions. Of. Books.
And hereās the best part:
š Over 95% of the books they receive are kept OUT of the landfillĀ
š Most are resold, reused, or redistributed
š Only a small portion actually gets recycled into paper
Which meansā¦
That book you dropped off?
That library clean-out?
That box sitting in your garage?
Thereās a really good chance it ends up back in someoneās hands⦠being read again.
And THAT is the kind of recycling we love.
Because yes⦠we recycle paper.
But even better?
We help circulate stories.
This is what makes Colorado so special.
We donāt just collect material⦠we have real systems and partners that ensure it actually gets reused, recycled, and diverted the right way.
From local libraries ā to Green Girl ā to Dream Books ā back into the communityā¦
Itās a full-circle moment. Every single time.
So when you watch this video of books coming into our warehouseā¦
Just knowā¦
Thatās not the end of their story.
Itās just the beginning ššā»ļø Thank you for thinking GREEN & Recycling your books!!
