Steel Strong: Celebrating Our Partnership with Alter’s

When scrapping steel, we think Alter in Greeley. Alter used to be known as Andersen’s, and is no small operation. Their 38-acre facility in Greeley runs a powerhouse shredder — a 4,000-horsepower Riverside M88 — that had already processed nearly 800,000 tons of material as of 2015, and at one point was moving about 10,000 tons of scrap per month. That’s serious recycling muscle, and we’re proud to bring our steel there knowing it’s being handled efficiently, responsibly, and directly supporting Colorado’s circular economy.

And we’ve been keeping them busy — in just the month of October alone, we recycled 18 tons of metal through our partnership with Alter’s. That’s 18 tons of shelving, equipment, old appliances, heavy steel, and warehouse oddities that did not end up in a landfill. Instead, it’s headed right back into the manufacturing loop where

it belongs.

But honestly, the numbers are just part of what makes Alter’s such an incredible partner. What we really love is how personal and down-to-earth the entire team is. Every time we pull in, someone is waving, smiling, and ready to help — even when things get… interesting. One time our truck was so jam-packed with steel that we couldn’t even get the metal safety hooks undone. Todd — yes, the crane operator Todd — literally climbed out of his machine, walked over, and helped us free the latch so we could unload. Who does that anymore? These guys do.

We absolutely love working with Alter’s. They’re efficient, hardworking, and just genuinely good people. Partnerships like this are the backbone of what makes local recycling work.
